In episode 14 of The Electronic Intifada Podcast, Nora and Asa welcome back As’ad AbuKhalil to the show.
AbuKhalil, a professor of political science at California State University Stanislaus and a commentator on Middle East politics, discusses the aftermath of the assassinations of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the leader of Iraqi militias that were instrumental in the defeat of the Islamic State.
AbuKhalil analyzes Israel’s role not just in the assassinations, ordered by US President Donald Trump, but in expanding wars across the region.
“Every regional conflict, and every internal conflict in the region, Israel is always involved and always on the worst side,” says As’ad AbuKhalil.
“When Israel downplays its role, it’s insulting the intelligence of anybody who knows anything about the Middle East,” he adds.

The initial (Katusha rocket) strike- instantly blamed on Iran - that sparked the US retaliation has been found by Iraqi and US investigators to have come from a Kia Pickup on ISIS territory near Tikrit, a week ? before now. Maybe as much a a month.
