Wikileaks: Harvard protest against Israeli war crime suspect caught US government attention

In Spring 2007, Dan Halutz, former chief of staff of the Israeli military, participated in an exclusive 8 week managmeent course at Harvard Business School. Halutz oversaw the 2006 Lebanon war during which he ordered Israeli pilots to bomb 10 multistory buildings in the Dahiya district of Beirut as a response to Hezbollah’s rocket fire on Haifa.

Palestinian Americans "unequivocally reject" PA's UN statehood bid

Palestinian Americans have called on Arabs, Palestinians and their allies everywhere to reject a bid by the Palestinian Authority (PA) to ask the United Nations next month to admit the “State of Palestine” as a full member. In a 27 August statement from its coordinating committee, the US Palestinian Communities Network (USPCN) wrote:

US accused Qatar of funding Somalia's Al Shabab militia, Wikileaks reveals

The United States accused its close ally Qatar of funding the Al-Shabab militia in Somalia, newly released diplomatic cables reveal. The extraordinary claim was made in a 26 October 2009 meeting between Ambassador Susan Rice, the US Permanent Representative to the United Nations and her Turkish counterpart Ambassador Ertugul Apakan. A US diplomatic cable of minutes of the meeting was leaked by Wikileaks on 24 August.

Western press and addressing grievances in Gaza

How Western press tries to divert attention from the real suffering that should be addressed in Gaza resulting from Israel’s inhuman policy toward the Palestinians. Issues like “abuse of Gaza women’s rights” and “the rising middle class” are quite ridiculous to deal with at a time when the people of the Gaza Strip, both wealthy and poor, are woken from their sleep by Israeli warplanes bombing their neighborhoods.

Egypt's military ruler Tantawi and the American siege of Gaza: revelations from Wikileaks

The US administration of President Barack Obama was even more actively involved than previously known in enforcing the siege of Gaza along Egypt’s border with the territory. And the Pentagon provided direct assistance and technology for these efforts, a newly released official document reveals.

Picture: Gaza weather forecast

Gaza update: Eleven Palestinians killed in Gaza in the last 48 hours, among them a 17 year old kid (Salameh al-Masri) killed in an airstrike on a sports club in Gaza. I am literally out of words, heartbroken. This is a great drawing to describe the unfortunate daily weather forecast in Gaza.

How protests against Israel (and Flagman) saved lives in Gaza

Israel appears to have backed away from an even more massive assault on Gaza – for now – largely because of protests in Egypt and the broader sense that Israel “lacks legitimacy” to carry out more aggression despite assured diplomatic support from the United States. This is an enormous victory for people power, and as a result lives have undoubtedly been saved.

Blame the Gazans— Punish them

According to the Palestine Papers, Saeb Erekat, the so-called chief Palestinian negotiator, once stated, “”If someone sneezes in Tel Aviv, I get the flu in Jericho.” That was probably the only thing that makes sense Erekat ever said regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Except it wasn’t actually true, unless we think of Erekat, at the moment he made that statement, as every Palestinian in Gaza and replace “Jericho” with “Gaza”. So “if someone sneezes in Tel Aviv, Palestinians in Gaza were soon to be blame for it.”

Heartbroken

First of all, I would like to say that all my thoughts and prayers go to the Palestinians suffering in Gaza tonight! I am heartbroken, the news is the reason I’ve been depressed for the last two days. I rarely get depressed, but when I read the news of innocent Palestinians dying in Jerusalem and Gaza, I couldn’t hold my tears.

Call From Gaza: Open The Rafah Crossing Permanently And Unconditionally

Dozens of Arab and international organizations and leading personalities have joined an urgent call from Gaza to permanently re-open the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt, which remains tightly restricted despite the fall of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in February. Here is the accompanying press release and the full text of the statement in English and Arabic and the list of endorsers.

How CNN helped spread a hoax about Syrian babies dying in incubators

A disturbing story is circulating on social networks and the media that a number of premature babies died in their incubators when Syrian forces cut off electricity to hospitals during their assault on the city of Hama. Evidence suggests it is a cruel hoax, and the pictures of the “dead babies” widely circulated online are false.

IGLYO, the international queer youth and student organization, recently announced its decision to withdraw its General Assembly from Israel. Palestinian queer groups welcomed the announcement, but urge IGLYO to take further steps in support of human rights by heeding the BDS call.
