After what seemed like four days of near peace, most people being able to get from one place to the other with less chances of getting spotted, a large number army tanks, armored vehicles and army jeeps re-entered Nablus. Last week, Palestinians went out in the streets, defying the curfew, to protest Israeli actions against the Palestinian president and the demolition of his compound. ‘Israel must unconditionally withdraw from the territories it occupied since 1967 and implement all relevant UN resolutions’. This petition has been signed by two hundred prominent Dutch citizens, including politicians, writers, and artists and will be published in an advertisement in the Dutch daily newspaper De Volkskrant. This is the real conflict, not the movies. Palestinians are threatened, humiliated and oppressed everyday. The greedy neighbor that stole most of their land wants to take what’s left for them and drive them out.
