World premiere of film “Hip Hop is Bigger than the Occupation” May 30 in NYC

Hip Hop is Bigger than the Occupation documents a crew of artists who traveled throughout the occupied West Bank for ten days. The group stayed at Balata refugee camp near Nablus, getting a taste of life under Israeli occupation:

The tour included M1 of Dead Prez, Shadia Mansour, Lowkey, Marcel Cartier, Mazzi of Soul Purpose, DJ Vega Benetton, Jody McIntyre and Trinidad, Brandon and Lavie from the South West Youth Collaborative/University of Hip Hop Chicago.

The world premiere screening of the film will take place 6:30-9:30pm May 30 at the Galapagos Art Space, 16 Main St. in Brooklyn. Proceeds go to next year’s tour.
