Video: On eve of court verdict, young Gaza women remember Rachel Corrie, urge BDS

Tomorrow an Israeli court in Haifa is scheduled to give its verdict in the wrongful death lawsuit brought by the family of Rachel Corrie. On the eve of the verdict this brief video offers a powerful reminder of the injustice Rachel Corrie was trying to stop when she was killed.

Corrie was a 23-year-old American activist with the International Solidarity Movement. She was crushed to death on 16 March 2003 by a US-made, Israeli-modified Caterpillar D9-R bulldozer as she attempted to protect the home of a physician and his family in Rafah, in the southern Gaza strip.

In the video, shot by Mohamed Fares al-Majdalawi, five young Gaza women – Hanan Abu Nasser, Iman Sourani, Intimaa al-Soudoudi, Rana Baker and Rawan Yaghi – Remember Rachel and speak about the thousands of Palestinian homes Israel has demolished since 1967. They call on people around the world to support boycott, divestment and sanctions on Israel, especially the campaign of divestment from Caterpillar.

“Rachel gave her life for justice, the least you can do is take action against companies supporting injustice.”

I have spoken of the home as the 'temple of the family'. Because the temples were destroyed so often in Palestine, people became inured this to terrible evil. As readers will know, the reasons given by the entity for crushing homes are multiple. In the case of Rafah, many were erased along the Philadelphi road at the 'border' in order to allow a line of fire ie no protection for snipers.

Imagine the amount of 'news' footage if a D9 rolled up in Notting Hill, London and demolished the home of Mr David Cameron PM.

We thank these ladies from Palestine. Grace is above all D9s.

Long Live ISM ! Viva Palestina!
RIP: Yasser Arafat, Rachel Corrie, Tom Hurndall and all Palestinian martyrs & matyrs in the Palestinian cause and every place where greed , land grabbing, slavery and genocide by various governments in collaboration with corporations and military of the indigenous populations continue to this day.
News that France is opening a murder docket iro of Arafat who was poisoned shows what lengths the zionists will go to to get rid of aPalestinian leader who negotiated for peace Clinton (Oslo Accord 2002) - nothing came of it because Arafat refused to sell out and grovel to the Israeligovernement - so they bombarded his compound while the world watched in apathy and the IDF probably deployed the poison then. When human life is degraded, bombed by drones and made utterly desperate makes one wonder if the IDF and its allies enjoy playing " God" Hopefully it will soon back fire on them - God willing- evil such as this can never prevail as long as we donot tolerate it!
