Rights and Accountability 19 May 2014
Both boys were fatally shot with live ammunition. The video was obtained by Defence for Children International - Palestine Section (DCI-Palestine) which sent the following description to The Electronic Intifada:
The CCTV footage was captured by cameras mounted on the building where the incident took place, which is owned by Fakher Zayed.
“The images captured on video show unlawful killings where neither child presented a direct and immediate threat to life at the time of their shooting,” said Rifat Kassis, executive director of DCI-Palestine. “These acts by Israeli soldiers may amount to war crimes, and the Israeli authorities must conduct serious, impartial, and thorough investigations to hold the perpetrators accountable for their crimes.”
Nadim Siam Nuwara, 17, sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Muhammad Mahmoud Odeh Abu al-Thahir, 16, sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the back.
The boys were participating in a demonstration near Ofer military prison to mark Nakba Day and express solidarity with hunger striking prisoners currently held in administrative detention by Israel. The demonstration reportedly began peacefully and then turned violent when Israeli forces clashed with Palestinian youth.
The deaths on Thursday raise the number of Palestinian children killed by Israeli forces in 2014 to four, according to data collected by DCI-Palestine. Over 1,400 Palestinian children have been killed as a result of Israeli military and settler presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory since 2000.
The Israeli military’s own regulations dictate that live ammunition must be used “only under circumstances of real mortal danger,” but the regulations are not enforced and frequently ignored by Israeli soldiers, according to research by DCI-Palestine.
Read more on the killings on DCI-Palestine’s website.
Update, 20 May: New videos of shootings published
Additional video of the shootings from a second camera published today by B’Tselem provide additional clear evidence that Nadim and Muhammad were shot down without provocation and in cold blood.
Each video shows both camera angles but the videos have been set to start playing at the moment where the new footage from the second camera begins. Scroll back to the beginning of each clip to see all the footage.

Please don't use weasel Israeli propaganda words
Permalink John Duqesa replied on
I'm referring to this sentence in particular, "The demonstration reportedly began peacefully and then turned violent when Israeli forces clashed with Palestinian youth.". You must understand that this is a weasel Israeli way of explaining what happened. There was no "clash". There was an attack by Israeli forces on Palestinian youth, who had been peacefully demonstrating up to that point. It doesn't even make sense the way the description was sent to EI. How can there be a clash if a demonstration is peaceful? Clearly there was an attack and Palestinian youth, provoked, probably deliberately, responded.
It's so important not to use the words and terms the Israelis want us to. There are never "clashes" for example. There are attacks. Clashes do not occur between unarmed civilians in their own country and an occupying army as if both sides are equal. In the same way, we should never use that romantic sounding word "settler". The correct usage should be "Jewish colonist". "Settlements" should be referred to as what they actually are, "Jew only colonies".
I strongly suggest you incorporate this in your own articles and advise contributors to do the same.

"Neither child presented a direct and immediate threat to life at the time of the shooting"? DO THEY EVER? Can they ever? The Israelis are always armed so heavily as if they weren't up against harmless children. He was in the street! Is that a crime now? A threat? Even if he was throwing stones, a stone could never do any harm to those Israeli OFFENSE soldiers. If a child is angry at the day that marks 66 years of injustices it's completely natural and understandable to want to resist or fight for their rights but it's not like the stone thrown by an inexperienced and guileless teenager is a threat to a soldier that's covered and professionally trained and carries fatal weapons. These kids couldn't present a direct and immediate threat even if they tried. The fact that they can't even claim they were a threat to justify their unjustifiable actions because there's proof right here yet nothing is being done is so blood boiling. This makes me sick and I wish no child had to ever experience or hear about this but I'm a child and I did. They start a war when one of their soldiers is kidnapped. All this happening to innocence and victims and the world is silent? Also I'm pretty sure the number of children who died since 2000 and even this year were greater they're just hidden. I'm not sure of this though.

First off, from a real bullet wound, blood doesn't splatter everywhere like in movies. No this is the real deal son. They bleed of course but you're not going to see it everywhere like in movies. Also, they were carried almost right away before it became an apparent pool of blood. But here are the links
First off, how any person shot by a bullet looks:

No blood even apparent but obviously real
How a wound to chest for example looks:

Here are the pictures of the boys, google would not let me link them directly so look through pictures on these sites. Blood will show up but since it's not a sight people want to see pictures of, pictures posted of the wounds are much less common than those of the boys' faces, their wrapped bodies in the flag, their clothed bodies, their families, funeral, candle lighting, demonstrations for them.. etc hope you see it though

Thank you for the links. Unfortunately the (possibly paid-for) hasbara poster will have moved on elsewhere to make other atrocious comments trying to justify the unjustifiable. S/he hoped that no one would actually take up the challenge of providing links and thus a bit of doubt would be implanted in people's minds.
Thank you once more for preventing that.

It's no problem it's our responsibility to provide them and show the truth. Besides, you think I wouldn't take up the challenge? Lol I'm Palestinian. Sometimes people would rather believe these posters because it's easier than accepting the truth that these kinds of things actually happen, but they do and we need to raise awareness

There are pictures that show blood and their dead and wounded bodies and pictures of the kids being buried and and pictures of the funeral the next day. But it's not like the children came home after this and died of a heart attack or something. They died after they were shot which is shown to you right up there. Then they were instantly carried to the hospital where they were proclaimed dead. You think this was made up? You think the doctors and nurses killed them? Shot them to make something up? Something that the media won't even show so it has no point. Wow. Anything just so you'll avoid the truth that whoever you support are cold blooded murderers.

Is it your position that a stone thrown is not a deadly weapon? I'm curious about this assertion that a stone thrown by a "child" or an "inexperienced and guileless teenager" does not pose a threat to anyone.
Not here
Permalink John Duqesa replied on
My position is that stones can't do anything to hurt heavily armed soldiers 250 yards away. Moreover, even if they could - and the video clearly shows that neither child was throwing stones when they were murdered - lethal force can never be justified.
Is it your position that stone throwers should be killed?

Is your position that it is?? Do you want to stand hundreds of yards away, carry fatal weapons, with almost every inch on your body protected by armor, wear a helmet and cover for your face etc. and let me throw a stone from that distance and see if it even hits you? Would you even feel it if it did? I'm pretty sure it's logic that in this case you wouldn't feel it and it would do no harm to you but if you want to pretend it does go ahead. Whereas let's look at what the protesters are up against. The experienced and heavily armed soldiers who carry weapons used for mass murders and wars and which are 100% deadly(which was proved as those children are dead now) and soldiers who used live bullets on youth. You all just love to overlook those people. A 17 year old is a child and a minor. I knew one of the kids and he couldn't actually harm anyone. This is the case of most of these victims by the way. He's never even been at a protest. He didn't know what he was getting into and that he was up against heartless murderers. So I'm not getting this from nowhere. There was no doubt in my mind, I was 100% positive he imposed no threat to anyone. As you can see by this video he didn't. He was just shot and aimed at right in the heart despite that they were aware he imposed no threat. Their aim was to kill. I don't know if it's something they enjoy or like to use as practice, but a kid's life was taken away. His future. He was stolen from his family and friends including me & as you can see there was no justifiable reason for this murder, this attack, this crime. They don't see it as taking someone's life, who is doing absolutely nothing that implies that he is a threat to them, or care. If they cared, if they were shown consequences for this it would not have happened. Had they not known they'd get away with it, or even be praised for it, & continue to be supported &defended(by you for ex.)&encouraged, ThisWouldnt'veHappened. You like it if that happened to someone you know?

Who would think they'd get aimed and shot at just because of walking in the street? I'm sure the kids didn't know how cruel those guys can be. Even if it was a demonstration, a bullet to the heart or back when they're just walking? They Israelis are not right or fair. God wanted the kids where they'd be safe and away from those cold blooded murderers. God help their families and friends.

No Moral Condemnation from US prsident.
Permalink Rajaee replied on
I saw the video. This is just murder by a Zionist Army soldier who is a cold blooded killer. May God damn his soul in this life and the next. What is also upsetting is where is the condemnation from President Obama. It seems like he is ready to shed a boatload of tears when a Jewish person is killed in occupied Palestine. But when a Palestinian child, baby, woman, grandmother, sister is outright murdered by those Zionist forces- IDF, he is a quiet as a church mouse. What this shows is that the United States is not an honest broker in the Peace process. The Palestinian leadership has gotten nowhere in the last 25 years with signing these deals the US has brokered for peace. If the Palestine people don't move in a different direction soon they will be wiped off the face of the map. Another people the US helped to annihilate.

Once more, nice try. The only thing wrong with your comment is that neither murdered boy was throwing stones at the soldiers as is clear from the tapes.
Moreover, are you truly suggesting and excusing that being shot dead is an appropriate response, even if they had been throwing stones? And this is quite apart from the fact that these Zionist soldiers have no right whatever to be there.
Your hasbara skills are sorely lacking.
