Podcast: Debating the Gaza “Disengagement” at North Park University

Listen to a podcast of EI co-founder Ali Abunimah and Tel Aviv University Professor of Philosophy Ilai Alon discussing the Gaza “disengagement” and what it means for the prospects for Palestinian-Israeli peace.

The November 1, 2005 event was held at North Park University in Chicago as part of the 10th Anniversary Lecture Series of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies.

Ali Abunimah is an analyst, author, and founder of the The Electronic Intifada. His articles have appeared in such publications as the New York Times, The Chicago Tribune and the Jordan Times. He is currently completing a book exploring a one-state approach to Palestinian-Israeli reconciliation.

Dr. Ilai Alon is is Professor of Philosophy at Tel Aviv University and an Israeli scholar and author on such topics as negotiations in the Arab World and Islamic Political thought. From 1999-2001 he was a member of the Israeli delegation in the negotiations with Palestine and Syria and has been involved in numerous projects to better facilitate negotiations between the Arabs and Israelis.
