Al-Jisser is proud to announce the opening of the “Made in Palestine” art exhibition in New York City. After two years of fundraising, community events and wonderful support, Al-Jisser has leased a space in a central gallery building in the heart of Chelsea in Manhattan’s art world, to open and present this monumental exhibition to the art world, the community and the public. Please join with us in sharing in this great victory and in publicizing this exhibition far and wide.

“Made in Palestine” will be opening at The Bridge 521 W. 26th St., 3rd Floor, NYC The show will be open to the public between March 14, 2006 and April 22, 2006, on Tuesdays through Saturdays, from 11 AM to 6 PM daily.

Al-Jisser will host a gala opening celebration on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 6:00 PM, featuring the beautiful art of “Made in Palestine,” classical Arabic music, delightful refreshments, and attended by many artists featured in the exhibition, as well as the exhibition’s curator, James Harithas. Also joining us will be our special guest Zuhdi al-Adawi, a former political prisoner whose art, created in prison, is featured in the “Made in Palestine” exhibition.

“Made in Palestine,” an exhibition of the work of 23 Palestinian artists, in Palestine and in exile, is a beautiful testiment to the resilience, creativity and resistance of the Palestinian people and of Palestinian culture. “Made in Palestine” in New York City is also a testiment to the strength and commitment of the Palestinian and Arab community, their supporters and allies, the art community and the progressive community of the area, who have donated their time, money and resources to ensuring this show arrives and is a phenomenal success. Artists, activists and organizations have donated their creativity to ensuring the success of this exhibition of Palestinian creativity.

And now, after much work and struggle, it is arriving. However, we still need your support to push us over the top! Your continued financial support will enable us to mount this museum-quality exhibition with the dignity and beauty it deserves, to place much-needed advertisements to inform the public about this exhibition, and to reach the full potential of this exhibition.

Together, we will go on to make “Made in Palestine” an event that breaks boundaries, celebrates Palestine, and engages the community, while exhibiting beautiful contemporary art. Join us on Thursday, March 16 at 6:00 PM for our gala opening reception - an event not to be missed.

We will be hosting community events throughout the exhibition. If you are interested in hosting or organizing an event in the gallery space in the evening, please contact charlotte.kates@gmail.com to arrange booking for the space. This event should be a celebration of all our community does and become a vibrant community space. Please join with us to fulfill that potential.
