Israeli forces kill two Palestinians in another extrajudicial execution

Israeli forces killed two Palestinians in yet another extra-judicial execution, when an Israeli helicopter launched a misile on a taxi near Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus.

At approximately 21:25, Mohammed Zuhdi ‘Araishi (Marshoud), 25, from Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus, was traveling back to the camp from Nablus in a taxi driven by ‘Awad Hassan Ahmed Abu Zaid, 35, from ‘Askar refugee camp, east of Nablus. When they arrived at the northern entrance to the camp, an Israeli helicopter gunship launched a missile at the vehicle.

The missile struck the vehicle, destroying it.  Marshoud and the driver were instantly killed.  In addition, 2 passing civilians were injured by shrapnel throughout the body: Bahaa’ Rebhi Mustafa Mawqedi, 20; and Mohammed Safwat al-‘Aassi, 22.

PCHR remains extremely concerned at ongoing violations of international human rights and humanitarian law by the Israeli occupying forces in the OPTs, including willful killings and other grave breaches.

PCHR asserts that the policy of extra-judicial assassination officially adopted by the Israeli government serves to increase tension in the region and threatens the lives of Palestinian civilians.

PCHR reiterates its calls for the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention to fulfill their legal obligations to ensure protection for Palestinian civilians in the OPTs.
