VIDEO: Hana al-Shalabi’s mother speaks out about her daughter’s hunger strike and her own

The mother of Hana al-Shalabi, the Palestinian woman who has been on hunger strike since 16 February when she was violently seized from her home by Israeli occupation forces, has spoken out in a video interview posted by Al-Haq, the Palestinian human rights organization.

The interview, which is subtitled in English, speaks not only of Hana’s current hunger strike, but also the two years Hana spent in detention without charge from 2009 to 2011.

Al-Shalabi’s mother has also declared a hunger strike in solidarity with her daughter. Hana al-Shalabi’s detention without charge or trial and hunger strike has become a particular focus of attention this year’s International Women’s Day, on 8 March.
