In addition to homophobic and anti-Semitic street theater, Israel lobby astroturf project Iran180 produces research that is often shallow and selective. Some of its claims do hint at real human rights problems and abuses, but they lack context and don’t encourage empathy, understanding or solidarity.

Previously I reported on an Israel lobby astroturf project named Iran180 that was launched by the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York. Here are new details of the group Iran180 and some of the people behind it.

A float at San Francisco Pride, sponsored by a pro-Israel group, used intentionally humiliating sexual depictions of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. While purporting to defend the rights and dignity of queer people, the display sought to ridicule Ahmedinejad by associating him with gay identity and homosexuality in negative ways.
