UNESCO funding cut over Palestine vote may harm US economy

The administration of US President Barack Obama announced Monday that it would immediately cut US funding for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, just hours after UNESCO’s governing board voted overwhelmingly to grant Palestine full membership.

The US project for normalization with the the Israeli colonizing and apartheid regime was dealt a severe blow last Friday when protesters battered down the walls of the Israeli embassy in Cairo and even managed to break into the embassy’s offices.

Egypt’s border with the Hamas-run Gaza Strip was reopened to Palestinian travelers Wednesday after a series of squabbles over operational procedures had temporarily brought cross-border traffic to a halt.
