| Laurie KING-IRANI
Editor, anthropologist, and freelance writer, Dr. Laurie King-Irani lives in Victoria, Canada and is a co-founder of Electronic Intifada and coordinator of the International Campaign for Justice for the Victims of Sabra and Shatila, whose legal team lodged the historic case in Belgium against Ariel Sharon and others responsible for the massacres. She edited Middle East Report Magazine published by Middle East Research and Information Project (MERIP) from 1998-2000. In that capacity, she was a frequent commentator on national and international news programs, including MSNBC and CNN International, on political, cultural, and military developments in the Middle East and US foreign policies in the region, and was a frequent commentator on Radio South Africa and Irish Radio. King-Irani initiated MERIP's media e-mail outreach service and has written articles on Israeli war crimes and the Right of Return campaign that have been published in national magazines in the US (Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, Middle East Report, and the National Catholic Reporter) and in Lebanon (As-Safir, Al-Hayat, and The Daily Star). King-Irani has a Ph.D in Sociocultural Anthropology, specialising in the political identity and participation of Palestinian citizens of Israel, based on her field research as a Fulbright scholar in 1992-93 in Nazareth, Israel. |
