Satellite Imagery of Qalqilya (2002-2003)
These satellite images of Qalqilya and Israel's West Bank Barrier surrounding the city were taken on 3 March 2002 and 7 June 2003. The progress of construction of the barrier can clearly be seen, ultimately cutting off residents from their surrounding agricultural land. (Added 23 December 2003)

The detail of the full size images is spectacular. This close-up of an area in Qalqiliya shows individual homes.
Many thanks to Space Imaging for providing the satellite imagery on this page. Both 2 meter resolution images were taken from 423 miles in space, as Space Imaging's INONOS satellite travelled from north to south over the Middle East.

When Space Imaging successfully launched the IKONOS satellite in 1999, it made history as the world's first commercial high-resolution Earth imaging satellite. Prior to 1999, images of Earth of this quality and detail were only available from government intelligence satellites. IKONOS has taken over a million images in the last five years and has collected more than 200 million square kilometers of the Earth’s surface. The IKONOS satellite can ‘see’ any location on the Earth's surface every three days. During the 14 orbits it makes around the globe each day, IKONOS collects vital statistics about the Earth's ever-changing features – from fluctuations in land and water resources to the build-out of new urban areas.

Space Imaging is the premier provider of satellite imagery enabling businesses, governments and individuals to better map, measure, monitor and manage the world in which we live. Today, Space Imaging's products are the cornerstone of the remote-sensing industry. For more information on products and services, please visit www.spaceimaging.com.
