Video: Solidarity with Khader Adnan from family of late Irish hunger striker Francis Hughes

Francis Hughes died on 12 May 1981 in Belfast’s Maze Prison after 59 days on hunger strike. Oliver Hughes, his brother, sent this video message of solidarity with Khader Adnan, the Palestinian prisoner who has been on hunger strike in Israeli prison for 60 days.

Adnan is being held by Israeli without charge or trial. Earlier today at a protest outside the hospital where the gravely ill Adnan is being held, shackled to his bed, his father Jihad Adnan appealed for international intervention and said his son’s spirits were high.

Francis Hughes was one of 10 Irish Republican prisoners who died on hunger strike. The other were Bobby Sands, Raymond McCreesh, Patsy O’Hara, Joe McDonnell, Martin Hurson, Kevin Lynch, Kieran Doherty, Thomas McElwee, Michael Devine.
